CBN Recruitment 2024 Application Process, Portal, & Online Form

There have been lots of, should I say, controversies surrounding the recruitment process in government parastatals like the CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria). But I’m going to help you understand how the CBN recruitment 2024/2025 process works, including the application portal, online form, and eligibility requirements.

The CBN has its own process of conducting recruitment exercises which is always made known to the general public on the bank’s official website www.cbn.gov.ng. Some say its recruitment process is internal but we do find the CBN openly recruiting people. There are reports of the apex bank sometimes pasting vacancies on its premises, but these are usually for minor positions like drivers, cleaners, etc.

But, of course, you won’t expect this exercise to be like the recruitments in other government parastatals like the Fire Service, etc. It is a lot more stricter than here, with in-person interviews.

Meet the CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria has 5 primary objectives, including:

  • to maintain monetary and price stability in the country;
  • issuing legal tender currency in Nigeria;
  • managing external reserves to protect the international value of the naira;
  • promoting a sound financial system in Nigeria; and
  • acting as a banker and providing economic and financial advice to the Federal Government.

The CBN also administers the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA), 2020, which involves ensuring high standards of banking practice and financial stability through surveillance activities and promoting an efficient payment system. The official website of the apex bank is www.cbn.gov.ng.

The CBN recruitment process typically involves an online application, aptitude test, and interview. Often, they recruit graduate trainees, entry-level officers, experienced professionals, and specialist roles (e.g., IT, Economics, Finance, etc.).

What is the Selection Process Like?

The selection process usually involves a series of assessments, including an online aptitude test, panel interview, psychometric assessment, and background checks.

Depending on the position you are applying for at the CBN, it usually takes about two months to get this job. The CBN is very consistent during the whole process, and you will be asked questions during the interview process. It is your answers to these questions that will gear the company to hire you among other criteria.

The CBN operates on an equal gender policy and also recruits physically challenged persons. They also accept NYSC members mostly in the areas listed under jobs and recruitment pages on their website. However, the company does not accept students for industrial training or interns.

What should I study to work in CBN?

The core disciplines required for you to be recruited into the CBN are Accountancy, Banking/Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Sociology, Statistics, Computer Science and Law.

I’ve provided you with just enough you should know about the apex Bank’s recruitment process. It’s not like the recruitment at other government agencies. But yes, the CBN openly recruits people whenever the need arises.
