The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Director General, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, has joined hands with the Nigerian Army to promote entrepreneurship and artisanal skills among military personnel and their families. This collaboration was unveiled during the “Life Before and After Retirement Empowerment Programme,” held at the 3 Division Nigerian Army headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.

The initiative, organised by Dr. Adetunji Samuel Adebanjo, popularly called Dr. Fish, Managing Director and CEO of Sammadecom Nigeria Ltd, focuses on empowering Army officers and their families with aquaculture skills.

At the event, Dr. Ogun, warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, Major General A.E. Abubakar, emphasized the need for military personnel and their families to embrace entrepreneurship. He highlighted the importance of skills acquisition as a pathway to sustainable income. To support participants, Dr. Ogun announced that ITF would complement Sammadecom’s starter pack of 20 aquaculture fingerlings with an additional 30 fingerlings, giving each participant a total of 50 fingerlings to kick-start their projects.

He also introduced the ITF’s “Skill Up Artisan” (SUPA) program, encouraging attendees to register through the portal www.supa.itf.gov.ng. He provided contact numbers for further inquiries and assured participants of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to supporting artisans across Nigeria.

The program underlines ITF’s dedication to equipping Nigerians with skills for economic independence and national development, while fostering entrepreneurship within the armed forces community.
