The promotion list features both General Duty and Support Staff who performed exceptionally well in the 2024 promotion exercise. A breakdown of the promotions shows that 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers were elevated from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC). Similarly, 4 General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC). Meanwhile, 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers moved from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI), while 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers were promoted from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
This development reflects the progressive vision of the NCS leadership under CGC Adeniyi. By prioritising career advancement, the management aims to foster a motivated workforce and ensure improved service delivery in revenue generation, anti-smuggling efforts, and trade facilitation.
In his remarks, CGC Adeniyi congratulated the promoted officers and encouraged them to remain dedicated to the Service’s core mandates. He emphasised the importance of their roles in the organisation’s continued success.
The promotion list for senior officers is still under review and awaits the approval of the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
