Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has officially announced a major recruitment drive, with the goal of hiring 700 additional personnel to enhance the capacity of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps. This move is aimed at strengthening the security framework within the state to ensure safer communities and an overall improvement in the state’s security situation.
The announcement was made public by Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (retired), the Corps Commander of the Amotekun Corps, who issued a statement to journalists on Saturday. According to General Adedigba, the newly announced recruitment effort demonstrates the Ogun State Government’s dedication to protecting its residents and improving the safety of local communities.
The Amotekun Corps, established to maintain security within the state, has played a vital role in addressing issues related to crime and community protection. With the recruitment of additional personnel, the Corps aims to further strengthen its ability to respond effectively to security concerns. The recruitment initiative is open to all interested applicants, who are encouraged to apply free of charge.
For those interested in joining, applications are accepted via the official Amotekun Corps recruitment website: ogunstateamotekun.com.ng. The application period began on October 29 and will remain open until November 18, 2024.
Following the application phase, a comprehensive screening process has been planned for potential recruits. This screening is set to run from November 25 to December 11, 2024. The Corps Commander emphasized that applicants should prepare adequately and ensure they follow all guidelines and instructions provided during this process.
The goal of this recruitment effort is to build a stronger Amotekun Corps with personnel who are committed to protecting the lives and property of Ogun State residents. Available Positions and Requirements
The Amotekun Corps has outlined various positions open to applicants, each with specific qualifications and requirements. Below is a breakdown of the available roles and the necessary credentials for each:
- Corps Field Operatives Cadre – Requirements: First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin.
- Corps Assistant/Inspector Cadre – Requirements: Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin, and a Letter of Recommendation.
- Corps Superintendent Cadre – Requirements: National Diploma (ND), Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin, and a Letter of Recommendation.
- Corps Field Officer – Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND), Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin, and a Letter of Recommendation.
- Trades Personnel (Artisans/Craftsmen) (Bricklayer, Electrician, Driver/Mechanic, Plumber, Carpenter, and Vulcanizer) – Requirements: First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Trade Test (1, 2, and 3), Certificate of Apprentice/Letter of Recommendation, and Certificate of Origin.
- Nursing Cadre – Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse and Midwife (RN & RM) certifications, Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin, and a Letter of Recommendation.
- IT Personnel – Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin, and a Letter of Recommendation.
- Electrical Engineer – Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE), First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Certificate of Origin, and a Letter of Recommendation.
Method of Application
To apply, candidates should visit the Amotekun Corps website https://ogunstateamotekun.com.ng/vacancies and complete the online application form, ensuring that they upload all required documents. Applicants are advised to double-check their applications for accuracy before submitting, as no changes can be made after submission.
Upon successful application, candidates should print a summary of their application form and bring it, along with the original copies of their credentials, to the screening centers. Screening will take place across five designated locations: Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode, Ayetoro, Ilaro, and Sagamu.
Successful candidates will be deployed to various locations within Ogun State, including land and riverine areas. Selected personnel, including tradesmen and women, are expected to adhere to civil service regulations and the ethical standards of their respective professions.
