PTDF local scholarship 2024/2025 academic session. The Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) has opened applications for its in-country scholarship scheme (ISS) for the 2024/2025 academic session. This scholarship is meant to help eligible students in Nigeria pay for their education at local universities.

PTDF Local Scholarship 2024/2025

This scholarship is available to students who have completed their first year of study and above. It is intended for those in their second year or higher in Nigerian public universities.

The scholarship is open to full-time students in Federal, State, and Private tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Part-time students or those enrolled in short courses are not eligible for this scholarship.

PTDF Local Scholarship Requirements 2024/2025

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The scholarship is available only for public universities and specific courses
  • Applicants must have a valid National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Those already receiving another scholarship are not eligible to apply
  • Applications for part-time studies will not be considered
  • Postgraduate applicants must submit a study/research plan, degree classification, full academic transcripts, and any other professional qualifications
  • Postgraduate (MSc) applicants must provide a statement of purpose explaining their reasons for the study, its relevance to the oil and gas industry, and its expected impact on national development
  • Both PhD and MSc applicants must submit a research proposal, not exceeding six pages, covering the topic, introduction, literature review, and more
  • Applicants for undergraduate, MSc, and PhD programmes must submit a full-time admission letter from a public university
  • PhD and MSc applicants must have at least a Second-Class Lower (2.2) degree in an oil and gas-related field
  • Undergraduate, PhD and MSc  applicants must have at least five credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results, obtained in not more than two sittings
  • PhD and MSc applicants must provide their NYSC certificate or letter of exemption, along with their Certificate of State of Origin and Local Government identification
  • MSc applicants must submit a personal statement of at least 1,000 words, outlining their reasons for choosing the course
  • Undergraduate applicants must currently be in their 200 level
  • Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale, equivalent to 2.2 in their first year
  • Undergraduate applicants must provide transcripts for their first year of study, signed and stamped by the Head of Department or other authorised personnel

How to Apply for the PTDF Local Scholarship 2024/2025

To apply for the PTDF Local Scholarship, follow these steps:

  • Visit the PTDF scholarship management portal at https://scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng/
  • Create an applicant account
  • Complete the application form with correct personal and academic information

All completed application forms must be submitted within the stipulated period as stated in the advertisement on the official PTDF portal. Applicants who meet the requirements will be shortlisted and invited for oral interviews before the final selection of successful candidates.

The PTDF will review all the information submitted to verify that students are still enrolled in their institutions before approving and releasing the scholarship funds. Once approved, the scholarship funds will be paid out for each successful candidate.
