PTDF (Petroleum Trust Development Fund) overseas postgraduate scholarship 2024/2025 academic session — Nigeria. The PTDF has announced the opening of applications for its Overseas Scholarship Scheme (OSS). This scholarship will help qualified Nigerian students pursue their education at universities abroad, including those in the UK, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
The PTDF scholarships are highly competitive, and only the most outstanding candidates are selected. The scholarship is available only to postgraduate students in Federal, State, and Private tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Part-time students or those enrolled in short courses are not eligible.
PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Requirements
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- All applicants must be computer literates
- All applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) and must verify it (NIMC verification charges apply)
- MSc applicants must have a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience while PhD applicants require a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good post-graduate degree.
- MSc applicants require a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) explaining the reason(s) for the proposed study, its relevance to the industry, and its expected impact on national development
- Both MSc and PhD Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
- MSc and PhD applicants must possess 5 O/level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
- PhD applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (not more than five pages), including the topic, introduction, objective, methodology, and mode of data collection
- All lecturers must provide a letter from their Vice-Chancellors confirming that they are not receiving any other scholarships
How to Apply for PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship 2024
Interested candidates can apply for the PTDF Overseas Scholarship through the PTDF scholarship management portal at https://scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng. Candidates need to create an applicant account and complete the application form with accurate information. Candidates with multiple applications will be disqualified.
Candidates who pass the first round of screening will be notified to attend the interview with their transcripts. The PTDF urges all applicants to prepare their transcripts in anticipation.
The PTDF will review all submitted information to verify the applicants’ eligibility before approving and releasing the scholarship funds. Successful candidates will be awarded scholarships to study in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, starting in the 2024/2025 academic session.
