The Kwara State Ministry of Finance has explained why some state government workers are yet to receive their November salary and bonus. While many workers have been credited, others are still awaiting payment due to incomplete registration with the Kwara State Resident Registration Agency (KWSRRA).
In a statement released on November 11, the government announced that only workers who completed their KWSRRA registration would receive their salaries and bonuses. This process has been ongoing for over six months, providing ample time for all workers to comply.
On Monday, December 2, Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, reassured workers about the disbursement process. She urged those who have not received their payments to visit the nearest KWSRRA office to resolve pending registration issues.
“The state government has since begun disbursing the November salary, and many workers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have received theirs. The bonus will follow shortly, as was done previously,” Nuru said.
She explained that this is the first salary disbursement since KWSRRA registration was enforced. As a result, payments are being processed in batches to ensure updated data and biometric details of workers are accurately incorporated into the payroll system. This effort aims to enhance data-driven planning, improve resource allocation, strengthen payroll integrity, and promote public safety and accountability.
Dr. Nuru added, “State workers who have not received their payments should visit the nearest KWSRRA office for registration. This is in everyone’s interest.”
The statement also clarified that local government workers and teachers under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) are being paid in a similar manner after completing their KWSRRA registration.
“The directive requiring all state employees, including those in the 16 local government areas, to register with KWSRRA is a strategic step to improve accountability and service delivery. With the registration open for over six months, there has been sufficient time for compliance,” the statement said.
The Kwara State government reiterated its commitment to timely salary payments, a hallmark of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.
