FG’s LEEP Portal Now Open: Empowerment Program Starts Nationwide

The Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) portal is now open for applications, an opportunity for Nigerians to build employable skills, access jobs, and reduce poverty. This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope agenda to provide every citizen with essential skills, ensuring equality in employment opportunities and promoting better livelihoods.

Through LEEP, the Nigerian government envisions a future where everyone has the skills and resources to meet basic needs, aligning with the “Zero Hunger” and “Zero Poverty” goals. This means helping citizens secure jobs that allow them to afford nutritious food and a healthy lifestyle, while promoting fair wages and job stability.

LEEP seeks to address unemployment by creating 2.5 million jobs. These jobs are organized into five pillars, each targeting specific needs within Nigeria’s job market to tackle the country’s skill gap and employment challenges.

Digital Nomads – empowers Nigerian youths with digital skills to access global job opportunities.
Vocational and Entrepreneurship Program (VEP) – trains individuals for self-employment and entrepreneurship.
NELEX – Serving as a job management hub, NELEX connects job seekers with employers.
Job Fairs – Bringing together job seekers and employers across Nigeria.
Center for Learning Spaces – Upgrading training centers to enhance skill acquisition.

How to apply

Interested applicants can learn more about LEEP and apply at https://leep.gov.ng. Work and School Africa has gathered that the resources include over 100 instructors, 1,000+ startup mentors, 100,000 certifications, and more than 50 vocations for development. This program is different from the previously suspended Npower program.
