Lagos, Nigeria – 15 November 2024 — The Nigerian Navy has officially announced the commencement of recruitment for the Basic Training School Batch 37, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry. This recruitment drive, set to begin on Friday, 15 November 2024, offers an opportunity for Nigerian citizens to join one of the country’s esteemed military services. This application process will be open for a limited period, closing on 20 December 2024.
The recruitment process is entirely free of charge. Applicants are cautioned against making any payments to individuals or organisations claiming to assist with the application process. All necessary information and the application portal can be accessed directly at www.joinnigeriannavy.com, the official website of the Nigerian Navy for recruitment.
Application Requirements
The application portal, which opens on 15 November, comes with strict guidelines for all applicants. Only one valid application is permitted per individual. Multiple submissions will automatically disqualify the applicant.
After submitting the application online, applicants must print out several key documents:
- Acknowledgement Form
- Parent/Guardian Consent Form
- Local Government Attestation Form (to be signed by a military officer of at least the rank of Commander in the Nigerian Navy or a Local Government Chairman)
- Guarantor’s Certification Form
Applicants are urged to carefully follow all instructions provided on the website and to ensure they print and sign all relevant documents required for a successful application.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the recruitment process:
- Nationality: Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and hold a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Height: Males should have a minimum height of 1.69m, while females must be at least 1.65m tall.
- Physical Fitness: Applicants must be physically, mentally, and medically fit and free from any criminal convictions.
Age and Education Requirements
Candidates’ age and educational background determine their eligibility:
- For O’Level/SSCE holders: Applicants between 18 and 22 years must have at least five credits in subjects, including Mathematics and English, in no more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, not older than 2018.
- For OND/NCE holders: Applicants aged 18 to 26 years are eligible. However, those applying as Chaplain/Imam Assistants or Drivers/Mechanics may be between 18 and 28 years as of 31 December 2024.
- Tradesmen: Applicants with skills in areas like tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, welding, and refrigeration must present Trade Test certificates and possess at least four passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with English included, from no earlier than 2014.
- Medical-related professions: Candidates applying for medical-related roles must hold a National Diploma from recognised institutions and a valid practising licence.
- Athletes: Those applying as sportsmen/women must present evidence of experience, including certificates and medals.
Other Important Information
Registration will end on 20 December 2024, and the Recruitment Aptitude Test is scheduled for 18 January 2025 at various centres nationwide.
It is emphasised once again that this recruitment process is completely free of charge. The Nigerian Navy warns applicants not to make any payments to individuals or groups during any stage of the process.
Applicants must ensure their Attestation Form is accompanied by a passport photograph, along with a photocopy of the signee’s ID (Driver’s Licence, International Passport, or National ID Card). The signee must authenticate the applicant’s passport photograph.

Final Selection and Training
Candidates who successfully pass the recruitment stages will undergo basic military training, after which they will join the ranks of the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen.
