President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of young Nigerians to work as accountability officers and oversee the building and operation of 8800 new Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the country. This information was shared by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.
The Minister explained that the accountability officers will help monitor the health centres to ensure they benefit people in their local communities. This program is part of a plan to improve Nigeria’s health system, known as the Sector-wide Approach (SWAp). The Minister emphasized the need for bold steps to solve challenges in the health sector across 774 local governments, 36 states, and the federal government.
Requirements for Applicants
To apply for the position of an accountability officer, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Nigerian citizen.
- Have strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
- Hold a BSc or HND in public health, health administration, or related fields.
- Have experience in PHC management, health programs, or working with NGOs.
- Knowledge of performance and financial management is an added advantage.
- Be ready to work in any local government area assigned.
