Federal Government Jobs for SSCE Holders and Salary

Sometimes, you just have to get your foot in the door before you can explore the bigger things available in a federal job. you should definitely use your SSCE, especially if you’re currently not working. Besides, Federal government positions come with good benefits and stable salaries. The allowance you will receive will depend on your position. With SSCE, it won’t be a lot, but it’s still something.

Federal Government Jobs for SSCE Holders

1. Nigeria Police Force (NPF)

You can join the Nigerian Police Force with your SSCE. You will start serving in your Local government of origin. Applicants are expected to be of Nigerian origin by birth. The NPF requires a minimum of four credits in not more than two sittings one WASSCE/SSCE or its equivalent with credit in English and Mathematics. You will be paid up to 95,000 naira monthly. 2. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

The minimum educational qualification is an O’Level certificate (SSCE/NECO/GCE) at the NSCDC. Also, make sure that any certificates or qualifications you use for this application are acceptable. If your documents are not accepted at the recruitment center or you fail to present them, they will not be accepted after the recruitment. Up to 70,000 naira per month. 3. Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)

You must pass a minimum of five courses, including English and mathematics in your SSCE such as WAEC, NECO, or GCE examination. The salary with SSCE is 74,000 monthly and some other allowances. The SSCE application portal is https://icpc.gov.ng/career/.

4. Nigeria Army

When you join the Nigerian Army with SSCE, you’re a recruit. After your Passing Out Parade (POP), you’ll become a Private. If you work hard, and you have a good boss, you will easily get a promotion if you submit additional qualifications acquired on the job. However, after earning your degree or HND, you can go for DSSC. With SSCE, it’s Army Warrant Officer (AWO). Salary is 95,000 monthly. 5. Nigerian Air Force

To join the Nigeria Air Force, applicants must possess a minimum of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than 2 sittings in SSCE/ NECO/GCE /NABTEB. The salary is at least 70,000 naira per month. The SSCE application website is https://nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng/.

6. Federal Fire Service

Applicants must have a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings in GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, or its equivalent, which must contain Mathematics and English Language. 7. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

You can also apply for the NIS job with your SSCE. The qualifications include GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, GCE or Its equivalent with a minimum of 4 credits in not more than two sittings, including English and Mathematics. 8. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

For SSCE holders, there are jobs available in the EFCC. To qualify, you need to be no older than 21, have an SSCE with at least 5 credits including English and Maths, and be physically fit. Applicants must be single and possess their original educational certificates. These positions offer a minimum salary of 70,000 naira per month. 9. Nigerian Navy

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in not more than 2 sittings. You can apply via www.joinnigeriannavy.com/. The minimum monthly salary is over 70,000 naira every month.

10. Nigeria Customs Service

Applicant must possess a JSCE or SSCE. You will be able to apply for the position of Customs Assistant Cadre CA II, and III (CONSOL 03, 04). The SSCE application portal is https://cdcfib.career/. The minimum Nigeria Customs Service salary for SSCE is 70,000 naira.

11. Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)

The Road Marshall Assistant 2 (CONPASS 04) and 3 (CONPASS 03) positions require a minimum of an SSCE qualification, with applicants needing a minimum of 5 credits, including English Language and Mathematics for the 2nd position, and 3 credits for the 3rd position, from SSCE/GCE, WAEC/NECO/NABTEB. For the Artisan and Tradesmen category, which includes roles such as Computer Operators, Drivers, Mechanics, Motorcycle Riders, Electricians, Instrumentalists, Tailors, Plumbers, etc., applicants must possess a minimum of 4 credits, including English Language and Mathematics, from SSCE/GCE, WAEC/NECO/NABTEB, along with Trade Test and/or professional certificates. Drivers and Riders must hold the appropriate class of Driver’s Licence. These positions are available in all states. The recruitment portal is https://frsc.gov.ng/login/. The minimum salary for SSCE holders is 70,000 naira.

12. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)

If you have an SSCE and are interested in a career with the NDLEA, you can apply for various positions through their application portal at www.recruitment.ndlea.gov.ng. For the position of Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 05), you need 5 credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB, including English and Mathematics. For Narcotic Assistant positions, the requirements are slightly different: Narcotic Assistant I (CONPASS 04) requires at least 4 credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB, including Mathematics and English, while Narcotic Assistant II (CONPASS 03) requires at least 3 credits, including Mathematics and English. The minimum salary for SSCE holders in these roles is 70,000 naira per month, in line with the new minimum wage.

You Can Upgrade Your Academic Qualifications in the Future

Before you take a federal government job with an SSCE, consider how easy it will be for you to upgrade your qualifications later, especially if you already have a job. Depending on your Commission, you can join with SSCE even if you already have a degree. However, it might take two years or more to upgrade to your degree certificate.

If you have no other job, consider taking any of these positions, but make sure you include any relevant experience and proof. Otherwise, you might start at Level 3 Step 2.

In some cases, while you can start with an SSCE, you may not be able to use an NCE or HND to upgrade. However, there’s still a path for improvement. Once your employment is verified, you can work for the required number of years based on your job. After that, you can apply for study leave with pay, get approval, and study a program that’ll help you get a promotion. Once you complete your program, submit your results to be upgraded to a higher position that matches your new qualifications.
