Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) is dedicated to offering financial support to Lagos State residents to drive job creation, increase wealth, and reduce unemployment. The organization manages three major programs: the Employability Support Program, the Lagos Innovates Program, and the Loan Program. Job Title: Head, Startup
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development, initiation, and coordination of strategic programs and initiatives that support the technology and innovation ecosystem in Lagos. The Head, Startup will work to align these initiatives with LSETF’s overall mission and objectives, ensuring impactful support for startups and technology-driven growth in the state.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Head of Startup will undertake the following responsibilities to fulfill the role:
- Lead and manage the startup team with a strategic vision.
- Report performance metrics and progress regularly to the Executive Secretary.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to determine program needs, set budgets, and outline necessary work plans.
- Identify core challenges within the startup ecosystem and develop insights relevant to LSETF’s operations.
- Keep up with the latest trends in technology and innovation to understand their potential impacts on LSETF’s objectives.
Specific Program Responsibilities
- IDEA HUB Programme:
- Oversee smooth operations within the IDEA HUB program.
- Define and oversee the process for selecting and admitting participants.
- Build and maintain relationships with mentors, onboarding them as necessary to support program objectives.
- Workspace Voucher Program:
- Ensure efficient operation of the Workspace Voucher Program.
- Work closely with infrastructure partners such as co-working spaces and hubs to secure needed resources like internet connectivity.
- Hub Loan Programme:
- Manage the smooth functioning of the Hub Loan Program, defining criteria and selecting qualified applicants.
- Talent Development Programme:
- Oversee operations, establish selection criteria, and collaborate with funding partners to ensure success in talent development.
- Conduct research to uncover core challenges for startups and provide insights that will benefit LSETF’s objectives.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A first degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of lower credit from a reputable institution is required; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Professional certification along with an MBA may also be considered.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required, with at least 3 years in a senior role within the innovation and technology sector or a startup environment.
- Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is mandatory for this role.
