The Abia State Government has approved the recruitment of teachers for basic education across all Local Government Areas. The Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) is in charge of this recruitment exercise. The goal of this initiative is to fill teaching positions in basic schools within the state.
Abia SUBEB Recruitment 2024
The Abia State Government has announced vacancies for teaching positions in basic schools. The recruitment process will last for two weeks. These positions are open to candidates who hold qualifications such as the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc Ed), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), and Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A Ed).
Qualified candidates who are interested in teaching in basic schools are encouraged to apply through the Abia State primary school teachers’ recruitment portal.
After ASUBEB conducts the screening process, candidates can check if their names are on the list of shortlisted candidates. Those who are shortlisted will be invited for a recruitment interview. During the interview, candidates must present both original and photocopies of their documents and qualifications.
This recruitment covers several roles, including Headmaster, Education Officer, and Classroom Teacher. Teachers are needed for various subjects, including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Social Studies
- Basic Education Studies
- Elementary Science
- Agricultural Science
- Physical and Health Education
- French
- Computer Science
- Primary Education Studies
- Christian Religious Studies
Teachers from other subject areas, especially in STEM fields, are also encouraged to apply.
Abia SUBEB Recruitment Requirements 2024
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A High National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree, Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc. Ed) degree, Bachelor of Technology in Education (B.Tech.Ed) degree, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree, Master of Science (M.Sc) or Master of Arts (M.A) degrees from a recognised institution.
- The minimum qualification for selection is a National Certificate in Education (NCE) from a recognised and accredited institution.
- HND holders can apply for technical and vocational schools, with the option to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) within three years.
- 5 O’level Credits (WAEC or NECO), including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Must not be employed by any organisation during the time of service.
- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
- A valid birth certificate or sworn affidavit from a court of law.
- A Certificate of Local Government of origin.
- Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Certificate (recruited teachers have a probationary period of two years to obtain relevant certifications from the Council).
- National Identification Number (NIN).
- Applicants must be willing to teach in any local government area within Abia state.
How to Apply for Abia State SUBEB Recruitment 2024
All applications for these teaching vacancies must be submitted electronically using the state’s recruitment portal – https://abiastate.gov.ng. Paper applications will not be accepted.
The application will be followed by a CBT screening, and successful candidates must score at least 50%. Those who pass the test will attend a physical interview and document screening. Only candidates who meet all the requirements will receive ASUBEB appointment letters.
