British Chevening Scholarships for Nigerian Students 2025
Nigerian applicants go through a rigorous selection process. The most suitable candidates are then personally chosen by British embassies and high commissions in Nigeria. As a fully-funded scholarship, recipients will receive tuition or programme fees, living expenses, and return flights to the UK. They will also have access to exclusive networking events, workshops, talks, internships, and volunteering opportunities for free.

How to Apply for British Chevening Scholarships as a Nigerian
You can apply for the British Chevening Scholarship by following these steps:
- Go to www.chevening.org/apply
- Select your country from the dropdown list
- Fill out your application
- Submit your application
You will receive email updates about your application status at each step of the selection process. You can also check your status on the online application system by logging in with your registration details.
After submission, your application will be assessed against Chevening’s eligibility criteria. Eligible applications will then be reviewed by independent reading committees, which will create a longlist of applicants.
How Chevening Scholarship Selection Process Works
The selection process for Chevening Scholars takes a minimum of 8 months from the application deadline to when applicants are conditionally selected for an award. Candidates who are listed will be invited to submit their references and attend an interview with the British embassy or high commission in Nigeria. These will be face-to-face interviews conducted in English by a panel. They will ask you questions about your personal and professional goals, and how a Chevening scholarship would help you achieve them. Your choice of courses will also be considered during the interview. The panel will then score your interview against the global Chevening criteria.
British Chevening Scholarship Deadline for International Students
Applications for 2025 Chevening Scholarships are open and close on 5 November 2024.
Successful applicants will be announced in June 2025. If you are among them, you will begin your UK studies in September/October 2025.
