1. Commonwealth Scholarships 2024–2025

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of a Commonwealth country. Refugees or British protected persons are also eligible
  • Applicants need to have undergraduate honours degree of at least upper second class (2:1). For PhD applicants, an appropriate master’s degree is also required.
  • Applicants must be unable to afford to study in the UK without the scholarship

The eligibility criteria depend on the type of scholarship or fellowship candidates will apply for. Depending on which scholarship you are applying for, you may need to apply through a National Nominating Agency, a university, or a Non-Governmental Organisation. 2. Chevening Scholarships 2024–2025

Chevening Scholarships offer numerous benefits, including fully funded tuition fees, access to some of the best quality education in the world, exclusive networking opportunities, and the chance to explore the UK’s diverse culture.

The general eligibility criteria include that all Chevening applicants must submit their education documents, references, and one unconditional UK university offer. Candidates will receive email updates about their application status at each step of the selection process. They can also check their status on the online application system. The Chevening Scholarship applications take place online at https://asams.chevening.org/apply. You must sign up as a Nigerian student.

3. Rhodes Scholarships for West Africa 2024

There are 3 Rhodes Scholarships available each year for West Africa, which includes Nigeria. The Rhodes Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship with no specific ‘type’ of candidate selected.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Candidates must have been resident in Nigeria for at least five of the last ten years.
  2. You must be aged 18-24, or 18-25 for medical, dental, pharmaceutical, law, and engineering students.
  3. You must have completed an undergraduate degree (normally a Bachelor’s degree) by the application deadline with a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent.
  4. You must also meet the specific entry requirements of your chosen full-time course at the University of Oxford.
  5. You need to meet the University of Oxford’s English language proficiency requirements.

The application process is online. Candidates can begin their applications at www.rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk/scholarships/applications/, which is the 2024 official Rhodes Scholarships application portal.

4. Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2024–2025

You can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.
  2. Must be applying to pursue one of the following courses at the University of Cambridge: PhD (full-time or part-time), MLitt (full-time), and a one-year postgraduate course (full-time).

Even if you are not eligible for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, you may be eligible for other funding offered by the University of Cambridge at www.student-funding.cam.ac.uk/.

Applicants MUST submit their application for admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other funding) via the University’s Graduate Application Portal. You must complete the section to apply for admission to a course and a College place and the Gates Cambridge part of the funding section. So, first, candidates are to begin their admission application at www.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/.

5. University of Nottingham Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship

The University of Nottingham offers 100% Tuition fee scholarships for applicants from African countries, including Nigeria. This means it is a fully funded scholarship in the UK for Nigerian students.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. You must be domiciled in an African country like Nigeria.
  2. You must be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes.
  3. You must hold an offer to start a full-time masters (including MRes) for 2024/2025 at the University of Nottingham UK, studying in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, or Faculty of Social Sciences.

You must apply for and receive an offer to study a full-time masters (including MRes) at the University of Nottingham for 2024/2025 before applying for this scholarship.

When candidates have received their offer to study, they have to apply through the scholarships section of the application system, NottinghamHub, at www.nottingham.ac.uk/studywithus/study-with-us.aspx.
