MTN Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme Form 2024

MTN Scholarships are part of the Youth Development Cause. These scholarships are annually awarded to deserving Students at Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions. One of these scholarships is the MTN Science and Technology scholarship scheme. I will walk through the application steps, as well as provide links to access the official form download.

The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship targets 300 level students in Science and Technology fields at Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education in Nigeria. Successful candidates receive N200,000.00 yearly until graduation, provided they maintain the necessary grades.

The MTN Foundation offers this scholarship to support your studies, covering tuition, accommodation, books, and other essential materials.

Here’s how to apply

  1. Go to the MTN Bright scholarship application form portal.
  2. Fill in all required personal details, including your name, gender, date of birth, state and local government of residence, marital status, phone number, email address, and a passport photograph.
  3. Upload necessary documents like academic transcripts, passport photos, and valid ID.
  4. Review and submit the form.
  5. After submission, you’ll receive an email confirmation at your registered email address.

Shortlisted candidates for the MTN Science and Technology scholarship will be notified about aptitude tests through their email and phone numbers.

Those who pass the tests will be called for interviews and to verify their academic records.

After confirming their academic records, successful candidates will be awarded the scholarship.

The application for the MTN Science and Technology scholarship is straightforward and requires basic information.

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Requirements

  • Preference is given to students studying ICT, Computer Science, and Engineering.
  • You must be a Nigerian citizen.
  • Applicants need to show hard work, good grades, and financial need.
  • Only 300 level students can apply.
  • Attach your WASSCE results, admission letter, and a testimonial from your Senior High School. All documents will be checked carefully.
  • You should not have any other scholarships or financial aid.
  • Include your phone number and/or email address in the application.
  • You need to write a one-page letter explaining why the MTN Foundation should choose you for the scholarship and talk about your educational and career goals.

Women and individuals with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply for the MTN Science and Technology scholarship scheme.

Since it started, the MTN Foundation has given over N3 billion in scholarships to 4,212 students. After graduating, scholarship recipients join the MTNF Skill Up Training program to gain vital skills for Nigeria’s workforce.

They also get chances for extra training and certifications like PMI (Project Management Institute). As part of the Alumni chat group, they receive updates about job openings and career information.

CGPA Requirements

The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) sets specific academic requirements for STEM students across various educational institutions. For STEM students in public universities and colleges of education, a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5, equivalent to second class upper credit, is mandatory.

Similarly, STEM students in public polytechnics must have at least a 3.0 CGPA (upper credit) from their Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and should have gained admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.

For, Direct Entry level STEM students, you are required to have a minimum of 3.0 CGPA (upper credit) from the OND program and must have been admitted into the 300 level/3rd year of a public university.


The MTN Science and Technology scholarship scheme is for 300 level students in Science and Technology-related courses at Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). The application is free, and the deadline is usually announced on the MTN Foundation website.
