The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme is for Africans from all 54 African countries. It is for people with business ideas or businesses that have been running for no more than three years. Tony Elumelu Foundation Grant Requirements 2024

To apply, interested applicants need to meet these requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • Applicants must have a government-issued ID. School IDs are not accepted
  • Must have the legal right to work in an African country
  • The business should be a new idea or an early-stage registered business that has been running for no more than three years
  • The business idea must be to make a profit
  • Applicants can only submit one business idea, and it must be their own original work
  • Family members are not allowed to apply to the programme. If family members apply, they will be disqualified because this grant is for one member per family
  • Applicants MUST only apply with one business idea or one existing business. If they apply multiple times, they will be disqualified

Tony Elumelu Foundation Grant Document Requirements 2024

When you fill out the application form on TEFConnect, you will be required to upload the following documents:

  • Valid Government-issued identification such as NIN, voters card, drivers license, international passport, and national ID
  • Official business registration certificate
  • Official evidence of business ownership
  • Official evidence of directors
  • Official consent by partners to apply (for businesses with partners)
  • A valid phone number that is also on WhatsApp when you apply for the grant

Tony Elumelu Foundation Grant Application Process 2024

To apply for the Elumelu business grant, follow these steps:

  • Go to www.tefconnect.com
  • Click on START APPLICATION next to the programme you want for your business
  • Create a TEFConnect account
  • Complete the application with your personal and business information
  • Upload the required documents, including your photo ID (JPEG/PNG, not more than 1MB in size)

Once you have submitted your application, you will get a notification about your status. If you have applied for Tony Elumelu grant in recent years and were not successful, you CAN reapply until you are successful.

How much is the Tony Elumelu grant?

Both men and women will receive a non-refundable $5,000 grant known as seed capital from the Tony Elumelu Foundation. There are also two other Elumelu grant programmes including WE4AII Programme (Women Entrepreneurship for Africa) which pays a grant of $5,000 seed capital, and the Aguka Ideation Entrepreneurship, which pays a grant of $3,000.
