University of Ghana Scholarship for International Students 2024–2025

The University of Ghana (UG) has opened the application portal for scholarship(s) for international students. Currently, we have the Educational Pathways International (EPI) and SRC Yi Bi Boa scholarships, which are open for applications in 2024. Both scholarships are managed by the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO).

Interested candidates are urged to submit their applications, either while applying for admission into the university or as an existing student. These scholarship opportunities are both need-based and merit-based for undergraduate students of the University of Ghana.

University of Ghana Scholarship for International Students Application 2024

Scholarship 1: Educational Pathways International Scholarships

The Students Financial Aid Office is now accepting applications for the 2024/2025 academic year for scholarships offered by the Educational Pathways International scholarship scheme. These scholarships are designed to support merit students who come from areas of need.

The EPI scholarship covers tuition, books, room, and board, with some additional support. The scholarship is awarded for four years, provided that the student maintains excellent academic performance with a minimum B CGPA (3.0 GPA).

EPI Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Level 100 student.
  • Resident in an impoverished area.
  • Demonstrate financial need, showing that family income is limited and unable to cover educational expenses.
  • Possess the will to succeed, demonstrating perseverance and achievement in other areas.
  • Achieved an aggregate of 11 or better in the WASSCE.
  • Continuing students with a CGPA of 3.5 (for limited slots) or Level 300 continuing students in a six-year programme.
  • Not receiving support from other scholarships, and must pledge not to accept any other scholarships while in the EPI programme.
  • Medical students, both Level 100 and continuing with a CGPA of 3.5, are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should complete the online application form at https://apply.ug.edu.gh/finaid and submit the required essays. After completing the form, print a hard copy of the preview and submit it with all relevant supporting documents to the Students Financial Aid Office before the deadline.

The deadline for submitting EPI applications is 31st January 2024.

Scholarship 2: 2024–2025 SRC Yi Bi Boa Scholarship Scheme

The SRC collaborates with the SFAO every year to help students apply for the SRC Yi Bi Boa Scholarship Scheme. This scholarship is for needy students at the University of Ghana who have shown progressive academic performance.

The deadline for submitting applications, along with relevant supporting documents, is Thursday, 13th June 2024, by 3:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Must be a student of the University of Ghana (regular, fee-paying, city campus, or distance education).
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

How to Apply

Applicants need to submit an online application form with all required documents to the SFAO.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed. If selected, they will be notified by the SFAO, and the scholarship will be credited to their University of Ghana student account.

For both scholarships, applicants are expected to submit the following documents:

Academic records (transcripts/WASSCE grades)

Letters of recommendation

Birth certificates of siblings

Documents supporting financial need

Any other documents that might aid in processing the application
