Senate President Akpabio shared that despite various challenges, the NDDC has made significant strides in improving the lives of the people in the Niger Delta. He emphasized that the commission would now receive its full statutory allocations, enabling further development.
During an engagement in Port Harcourt, Akpabio highlighted that the NDDC had inaugurated five flagship projects, including roads, bridges, and electricity, across the region.
NDDC Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie assured that the commission is committed to completing capital projects that add value to the region, aligning with the 8-Point Presidential Priorities and the NDDC Act of 2000. He thanked the National Assembly for passing the 2024 budget, and facilitating project implementation.
NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku noted the shift from militant agitation to intellectual struggle in the Niger Delta to benefit the region. He emphasized that the NDDC’s Holistic Opportunity Projects of Engagement (HOPE) have provided opportunities for skills training and developed a digital repository of youth information.
Collaboration and Future Plans
Ogbuku stated that the NDDC collaborates with the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce to train youths and young entrepreneurs to support Small and Medium Enterprises.
