If you are a 300 level student, that’s a lucky level to be in because you can actually get a scholarship for it. Yes, we have scholarship programs that target students in 300 levels only, and this makes it less competitive for you since people from other levels are not eligible. So, today, we are going to look at the best of the Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students. I have also explained the eligibility requirements—all you really have to do is apply for the scholarship.

Nigerian Scholarship for 300 Level Students

We are going to look at 20 different scholarships. At the end, I will tell you which one of them is the best, so stick around.

1. NLNG Scholarship

At number 1, we have the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG). This company is committed to investing in education and offers various initiatives, including the Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students. This program is structured in four levels to encourage human capital development and high performance.

The goals of this scholarship are:

  • To develop a group of talented students, graduates, and professionals who are competitively skilled.
  • Each recipient of the Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students will receive N150,000 annually for the duration of their course.

2. NNPC/Total Undergraduate Scholarship

The NNPC/Total Undergraduate Scholarship annually awards scholarships to qualified candidates. This scholarship continues each year until the recipients complete their degree programs.

However, there are certain groups of students who are ineligible for this scholarship:

  • Students who scored below 200 in the UTME.
  • Students with a CGPA lower than 2.50 on a 5-point scale or its equivalent.
  • Students already receiving similar scholarships from other companies or government agencies.

3. PTDF Scholarship

We also have the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF). This is a federal agency dedicated to nurturing local talent and technological growth in the oil and gas sector. If you’re interested in applying for a PTDF scholarship, you need to meet these criteria:

  • You should not be currently benefiting from any other scholarships.
  • You must be aiming to get into a federal university for a specific course of study.
  • It’s essential to have a valid university admission letter.
  • You must not have previously been awarded a PTDF scholarship for the same or a lower level degree.
  • You need to have a National Identity Number (NIN) and be ready for NIMC verification (note that charges apply).

4. HillCity Foundation Scholarship

At number, we have the HillCity Foundation Scholarship, a non-profit scholarship opportunity aimed at benefiting students in Nigeria. The primary objective of this scholarship award is to enhance the growth and development of young individuals in a sustainable manner.

To be eligible for the HillCity Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0
  • Enrollment as a student at a Federal or State university in Nigeria
  • Two letters of recommendation from lecturers at the student’s current school
  • A valid identification card
  • A signed official document verifying the CGPA, issued by the Head of Department (HOD)
  • A letter of identification from the applicant’s department.

5. Beta Sigma Excellence Scholarship

Beta Sigma, a vibrant organization known for its social, cultural, philanthropic, national, and international service activities, and comprised of undergraduates and graduates from the University of Nigeria, collaborates with UNN-USA to offer more scholarships for this academic year.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you need to:

  • Have completed a full academic year at the University with a minimum GPA of 4.0.
  • Please be aware that Beta Sigma members and their relatives are not eligible for this scholarship.

All qualified students are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

6. Nigerian Agip Oil Company Scholarship

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) Limited, acting on behalf of the NNPC/NAE PSC, is dedicated to providing training and enhancing the skills of its workforce.

7. Shell Nigeria Students Scholarship Schemes

Since 1952, Shell Nigeria has recognized education as a precious long-term investment, benefiting not just individuals but communities and society at large. The University Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students, managed by SPDC on behalf of the NNPC/Shell/Elf/Agip Joint Venture, is a testament to the company’s dedication to nurturing talent in Nigeria.

Annually, more than 4,000 undergraduate students across Nigeria compete in aptitude tests, hoping to be among the growing number of students supported by Shell Nigeria in various Nigerian universities.

Candidates are chosen based on their performance in the national SSCE and JAMB exams, followed by an aptitude test held in PortHarcourt, Warri, Enugu, Lagos, and Abuja.

The Scholarship Scheme is divided into two categories: the National Merit Award (NM) for Nigerian undergraduates and the Areas of Operation Merit Award (AOM) for students from Shell Nigeria’s operational communities. These awards are exclusively for first-year students.

Every year, around 16,000 hopefuls apply for these scholarships, following Shell Nigeria’s call for applications. These scholarships are specifically for studies at Nigerian universities.

8. NHEF Annual Scholarship Essay Competition

The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) is excited to share the news of its 6th Annual Scholarship Essay Competition. This year, the competition aims to provide a creative and critical thinking platform for Nigerian university students. It’s an opportunity for them to delve into topics vital for Nigeria’s sustainable growth and development.

Eligibility for the NHEF Essay Competition

This competition is open exclusively to students currently studying at NHEF Partner Universities. To ensure fairness, NHEF will confirm each participant’s enrollment with their respective University Registrar. The partner universities participating include Ahmadu Bello University, Bayero University in Kano, Kwara State University, University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, University of Nigeria at Nsukka, and the University of Port Harcourt.

9. Stephen Oluwole Awokoya Foundation for Science Education

The number 9 scholarship we have is the Stephen Oluwole Awokoya Foundation for Science Education. Thos NGO is a nonprofit committed to enhancing science education in Nigerian higher education institutions. Founded in 1995 to honor the late Professor Stephen Oluwole Awokoya, a trailblazer in chemistry, education, and a former UNESCO director, the Foundation continues his legacy of fostering science education.

Applying for the Foundation’s Scholarship

To be considered for the Foundation’s scholarship for 300 level Nigerian students, applicants must first submit an application and receive a nomination from a dean or department head of a Nigerian tertiary institution in the fields of science or science education. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and the candidates’ career aspirations.

10. NWAG Scholarship for Nigerian Women

The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) offers annual scholarships to Nigerian female students. This opportunity is open to one woman from each state in Nigeria, pursuing any course at Nigerian universities. Each recipient receives fifty thousand Naira (N50,000). Remember, the last application deadline was May 15.

11. David Oyedepo Foundation Scholarships in Nigeria – for African Students

So, at number 10, we have the David Oyedepo Foundation scholarship. This one is quite a significant initiative that supports the Foundation’s mission and goals. This scholarship provides full tuition for eligible students who are native to and living in African countries. Students who receive this scholarship will have the opportunity to study at Covenant and Landmark University in Nigeria.

12. Guinness Nigeria Scholarship

For over 10 years, Guinness Nigeria has been running the “Learning for Life” program, significantly impacting young people in its host communities in Lagos and Edo states. Last year, Guinness Nigeria sponsored the education of 20 college students from these areas, underlining its commitment to youth development.

The undergraduate Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students is one of three scholarships offered by Guinness Nigeria to support the nation’s youth. Another notable initiative is the technical training scholarship, enabling young graduates to enroll in the three-year Electromechanics program at the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT) in Isheri, Lagos State. This scholarship, covering full tuition, highlights Guinness Nigeria’s commitment to equipping young Nigerians with essential technical skills for successful engineering careers.

13. Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship Programme

The Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship Fund, in partnership with KPMG, Andersen, and Leadway Assurance Company Limited, warmly invites eligible candidates to apply for the Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship Programme (SBSP).

This scholarship program is a tribute to Seyi Bickersteth, who notably served as a Senior Partner of KPMG Nigeria from 2002 to 2016 and was the Chairman of KPMG Africa from 2014 to 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for SBSP

Candidates interested in this opportunity must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Secure a minimum of 5 Distinctions (As and Bs) in their WASSCE, including English and Mathematics.
  • Present SSCE results that are no more than 2 years old.
  • Score at least 230 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • Be admitted to a Federal University in Nigeria.
  • Be enrolled in a 4-year course in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Insurance, or Actuarial Sciences.
  • Be in the 100-level of their studies at the time of application.
  • Have attended a public secondary school in Nigeria or a private secondary school where they were awarded a scholarship.
  • Not be a recipient of any other Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students.

The Seyi Bickersteth Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students Programme welcomes students from both public and private secondary schools in Nigeria (where the student received a scholarship to attend).

14. Stanbic IBTC University Scholarship

This scholarship initiative is a part of our commitment to support the ambitions and dreams of Nigerian youth. Stanbic IBTC’s commitment has been demonstrated through various initiatives like the Youth Leadership Series (YLS) and the Higher Institution Football League (HIFL). The Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students program is designed to promote academic excellence and diligence among Nigerian undergraduates. It is available to students who have participated in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and have gained admission to a state or federal university in Nigeria.

Application Requirements for Stanbic IBTC Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, applicants need to upload the following documents:

  • A recent passport photograph.
  • A valid ID card.
  • UTME results.
  • O’Level statement of results or certificate (from WAEC, NECO, or GCE).
  • JAMB or university admission letter.

15. Gani Fawehinmi Scholarships Award for Nigerian Students

The Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Board proudly offers an annual scholarship program. Each year, they distribute Four Million Naira to 20 to 40 deserving Nigerian students. These students are those currently studying in Nigerian tertiary institutions, which include universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Remember, this scholarship is only valid at these higher education institutions. The last date to apply was August 18th, so keep an eye out for the next deadline!

16. MUSTE Scholarships for Undergraduate Nigerian Students

The 16th scholarship we have is the Youth Empowerment and ICT Foundation. It’s indeed a wonderful scholarship program called the Mankind United To Support Total Education (MUSTE), established in 1998 by Mr. Jim Ovia. This program is a great opportunity for Nigerian youth, offering financial support to those who are exceptionally talented. If you’re enrolled in a Nigerian university or any higher educational institution, this scholarship could be for you.

17. Zamfara State Government Scholarship

We also have the Zamfara State Scholarship managed by thr state government Board to help students, right after Zamfara State was formed from the old Sokoto State. Their main goal is to provide bursary allowances to students from Zamfara State who are pursuing higher education, both in Nigeria and overseas.

Eligibility

If you’re thinking about applying for the Zamfara State Scholarship, make sure you fit these criteria:

  1. You must be a genuine resident of Zamfara State. If you’re not, unfortunately, this scholarship isn’t for you.
  2. Government employees, sorry, but you’re not eligible.
  3. If you’re enrolled in sandwich courses, this scholarship isn’t the right fit.
  4. For spill candidates, you’ll need university extension approval to be considered.
  5. You must be admitted to a recognized higher education institution and have documents like an admission letter to prove it.
  6. Only students attending public schools can apply. If you’re in a private university or institution, this scholarship isn’t available to you.
  7. If you’re matriculating or studying IJMB courses, wait until you complete your program. After that, you can apply for the scholarship for your diploma or degree program.

18. Exxon-Mobil Undergraduate Scholarships

The NNPC/MPN Joint Venture Nigerian scholarship, aimed at 300 level students, supports the Federal Government of Nigeria’s efforts in training mid and high-level personnel. It also helps in creating a pool of employable candidates for the company. While some scholarship recipients have secured jobs with ExxonMobil post-graduation, the company is not obligated to offer employment.

Eligibility criteria for this scholarship include:

  • Possession of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE) or equivalent, with at least six subjects passed in one sitting.
  • Registration as a full-time undergraduate in the first or second year at a Nigerian university.
  • Not receiving a similar scholarship from another oil and gas company.
  • Not being a dependent of employees of Mobil Producing Nigeria, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, or Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited.

19. MTN Science and Tech Scholarship

The MTN Scholarships for Youth Development is an annual award program that aims to honor and support outstanding students enrolled in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship specifically targets 300 level students pursuing science and technology-related programs in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Each year, 300 eligible students are selected to receive scholarships worth N200,000.00 per annum, which will continue until graduation as long as they maintain the necessary academic standards.

20. Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship

Finally, we have the Jim Ovia Scholars Program initiated in 1998 and funded by Mr. Jim Ovia. The aim of this Nigerian scholarship for 300 level students is to provide financial aid to outstanding Nigerian youths. Formerly known as the MUSTE scholarship, it supports recipients throughout their undergraduate and graduate studies, covering tuition and living expenses.

To apply for this scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • A completed online application form.
  • A valid government-issued ID (passport, voter’s card, national ID, or driver’s license).
  • An official, original letter from the applicant’s school or department head, detailing full name, course title, department of study, CGPA, gender, and matriculation number. Note that photocopies are not accepted.

I usually advise applicants to apply for more than one scholarship for a better chance of being approved for one.
